Preparing for the spring storm season can leave you feeling a lot like preparing for your first date, scared, clueless, and breaking out in a rash!
At Atlanta Tree Professionals we would like to offer some simple tips to help you prepare for the storms so you won’t have to be covered in calamine lotion.
Tip#1 Batteries
Often times the power goes out during severe storms. It is best to have batteries on hand. Consider batteries for flashlights, portable am/fm radio, and any other devices that require batteries.
Tip#2 Light
Make sure you have plenty of candles, lanterns, matches, and lighters. Be safe don’t leave candles burning throughout the night unattended.
Tip#3 Have a way to communicate
When it comes to our cell phones we can forget that without a charge our phones will leave us with no communication. Most people have given up their landlines. However you may want to consider getting one in case of emergency!
Tip#4 Water
Having plenty of clean filtered drinking water is a must. Especially after a storm, sewers can back up and all sorts of things can affect the water supply. Fill jugs ahead of time or buy water at the store for such an occasion.
Tip#5 Food
Consider stocking up on nonperishable items such as bread, crackers, and cans of soup. Also make sure you have a can opener that is nonelectric!
Tip#6 Seek Shelter
Have a place where you and your family can wait out the storm, usually a basement, bathroom, or closet. Make sure to take your supplies with you!
